Read Hour

Read Hour celebrates the joy of reading on 8th September, the United Nation’s International Literacy Day. Take part by spending one hour of your day reading, whether that be a book, magazine or comic book – everything is encouraged! 

Read Hour began in Finland with thousands of Finns taking part and sharing their participation on social media, including many Finnish celebrities and even the president Sauli Niinistö. The initiative has spread to several countries. Read Hour was internationally coordinated by The Children and Youth Foundation during the years 2019–2023.
