The winners of the Children and Youth Foundation’s Spring Idea Competition of 2025 are creating a more sustainable future with ideas involving domestic biogas, environmentally friendly reflectors, and second-hand fashion.

The winners of the Spring Idea Competition have now been chosen. The three winning teams will be awarded with a unique summer job, during which they get to bring their ideas to life together with top experts in Finland from various fields. The summer also includes a study trip to Lisbon, Portugal.
The Spring 2025 winners are:

BioLöBö: Domestic biogas catering for the needs of the road traffic needs.

Nicklas, Elias, Eetu, and Markus / Janakkala

Kalaheijastimet: Eco-friendly reflectors made from fish skin and scales.

Léna, Teea, Klaara, Hilda, and Karo / Helsinki–Espoo

ThriftySwipe: A fashion app that helps users find second-hand clothes that match their personal style.

Serra, Mikaela, and Venice / Tampere

Organized for the third year in a row, Spring invited young people aged 15–19 to develop world-improving ideas in teams of 3–5 members. Spring inspired thousands of young people to brainstorm ideas at school and during their free time. In total, 133 teams submitted their ideas to the competition. From these, the Spring jury selected twelve of the most promising teams to develop their ideas further during the Spring idea weekend, out of which six advanced to the finals.

The winners were decided by a public vote, in which all young people under the age of 20 could participate. The voting was open from 23.4.-5.5.2025. The three teams that received the most votes were chosen as the winners of Spring. More than 3,300 votes were cast in total.

“The level of the Spring final was high this year, and all six finalist ideas were very promising. This is also reflected in how evenly the votes were distributed among the finalists. The three winners received 58 percent of all votes, suggesting the competition was very tight”, summarizes Spring program manager Ilari Äijälä

The Spring Idea Competition is produced by The Children and Youth Foundation. The idea competition is funded by Saastamoinen foundation, UPM, Jenny and Antti Wihuri foundation, and Yksityisyrittäjäin säätiö.  The purpose of the competition is to strengthen young people’s future belief and their sense of agency.
